Keynote slot: Power BI, Qlik, Tableau from the industry and career perspective

This is a ten-minute Keynote slot, hosted by Nigel Frank’s Owen Mitchell.

The presentation will be focussing around the increase in popularity of Power BI and how that has had a direct effect on the contract and permanent recruitment markets.

There’s three main Data Visualisation products – Qlikview, Tableau and Power BI. Power BI was released by Microsoft slightly later than the other products and has been playing catch up over the past couple of years Microsoft are continuously releasing Power BI updates (every 4-6 weeks) which has been keeping the market interested and we’ve seen the product go from strength to strength at a really competitive price in comparison to its competitors.

As a result, we’ve seen more and more projects begin where companies have been able to implement Power BI at a really competitive price, however they often don’t have the in-house expertise to maximise their value in using the product. As a direct consequence, we’ve seen an increase in the demand of Power BI experts within the market place – particularly on the contract side. As Power BI is still a new product, where such frequent updates are being released – we’re finding it hard to provide out and out Power BI contractors to clients.

We believe that there’s a niche here for contractors / permanent employees to up skill in this area and get ahead of the ever growing Power BI curve.
